1. Who we are and what we do
Chinggis Logistics LLC ("Chinggis", "we") is a Houston, Texas auto transport company licensed by the FMCSA as a property broker (USDOT 8311531, MC-73664766, $75,000 BMC-84 surety bond). We arrange the transport of your vehicle and manage it from booking to delivery. The vehicle is physically carried by an FMCSA-authorized motor carrier that we select and vet. When you book, you authorize us to arrange that carrier on your behalf.
2. Your locked-in price
The price shown when you book is the total transport charge for the shipment you described. It does not change after you book, as long as the shipment matches what you told us (see section 4). We do not add fuel surcharges, "carrier fees" or dispatch fees later.
The guarantee has teeth. If carrier rates on your route move against us after you book, we absorb the difference, up to $100, rather than calling you for more money. If we still cannot assign a carrier at your locked price within your pickup window plus 3 days, we will tell you and nothing is charged — your card is never billed. You may also choose to pay the difference and keep the booking; that is always your choice, never a demand.
3. How you pay
- $0 today. When you book, your card is saved securely with Square (we never see the number) and your price is locked. Nothing is charged until we assign your carrier.
- You choose how to pay. Paying in full by card is our regular price. Paying a deposit by card and the balance to the driver directly earns a discount. Both prices are shown before you book. Pick one:
- Pay in full by card. Your card is charged your full locked price when your carrier is assigned. Nothing is due to the driver.
- Deposit by card, the rest to the driver. Your card is charged the deposit when your carrier is assigned. The balance is paid to the driver at delivery — cash, Zelle, cashier's check or money order. Drivers do not take cards.
- The deposit is one quarter of the discounted price, and never less than our service fee for the move. The exact amount is shown before you book and on your order confirmation. It is applied to your total.
- You receive a receipt by email the moment your card is charged. Your order confirmation shows the total, what is charged to your card, and any balance due on delivery. Keep it with you.
4. What can change the price
Your price is based on what you entered. It may be re-quoted before dispatch, with your approval, if the shipment turns out to be different:
- A different vehicle (year, make, model), or a lifted, oversized or modified vehicle.
- A vehicle that does not run, roll, steer or brake and was booked as running (inoperable vehicles need a winch; an inoperable surcharge applies).
- A different pickup or delivery ZIP code, or an address a car hauler cannot reach (see section 6).
- Personal items in the vehicle over 100 lb, or anything above the window line.
If a change makes the move more expensive and you prefer not to proceed, you may cancel before a carrier is assigned at no cost.
5. Pickup windows and transit times
Auto transport runs on windows, not appointments. Your first available date is the earliest day the driver may collect the vehicle; Priority (expedited) pickup happens within 1–2 business days after it, Standard within 1–5 and Flexible within 7. The Locked-In Price Guarantee works the same way for each, counted from your tier's window. Corridor week: when we offer it, your vehicle is booked on a scheduled carrier departure between Houston and Chicago or Milwaukee on the date shown, for $75 more than the Standard price; the same guarantee, deposit and cancellation terms apply. Transit times quoted are estimates. Weather, traffic, inspections, road closures and other shipments on the truck can add time, and no transport company can honestly guarantee a delivery date. The driver will call ahead before pickup and before delivery.
6. Door-to-door, within reason
Carriers deliver as close to your address as the truck can safely and legally get. A 75-foot car hauler cannot enter many residential streets, gated communities, apartment complexes or downtown cores. In those cases the driver will arrange to meet you at a nearby large parking lot (a shopping center, for example). This is normal and is not a change to your price.
7. Preparing your vehicle, and being ready to receive it
- Leave no more than a quarter tank of fuel. Remove toll tags, garage remotes and valuables.
- Fold in mirrors, retract or remove antennas, secure or remove loose parts, spoilers and racks. Disable alarms.
- Provide a key that starts the vehicle and unlocks all doors.
- Personal items: up to 100 lb in the trunk or below the window line, at your own risk. They are not covered by carrier cargo insurance and are not permitted by federal regulation as freight.
- Someone 18 or older must be present at pickup and delivery to sign the inspection.
Being ready at pickup and delivery. You are responsible for the vehicle being ready to hand over at pickup and for someone being able to receive it at delivery. That means:
- Give us the hours the delivery address can receive a vehicle, an on-site contact with a phone number, and a backup contact. We call to confirm the day before delivery.
- If the vehicle does not run, tell us before you book whether it rolls, steers and brakes, whether there are keys, and how it will come off the truck. If unloading needs a forklift, a tow truck or other equipment at your end, you provide it, in working order and with an operator, when the driver arrives.
- If the driver arrives within the hours you gave and cannot deliver (nobody is there, the site is closed, or the unloading equipment is missing or not working), the first hour of waiting is free. After that you owe waiting time of $50 per hour. If the driver has to leave, you also owe the carrier's actual charge for a second delivery attempt ($150 minimum) and the actual cost of any towing or storage needed to keep the vehicle safe.
- We call you and your backup contact, and offer waiting or a short reschedule, before any vehicle goes to storage. If we cannot reach either of you within a reasonable time, you authorize us to have the vehicle taken to a secure storage facility at your expense.
- These charges are separate from your locked-in price. We send you an invoice for them, due on receipt. We do not put them on your card without asking you first.
We are not responsible for delay, storage or other costs that result from the vehicle or the delivery address not being as you described, or not being ready.
8. Inspection, insurance and claims
At pickup, the driver inspects the vehicle with you and records its condition on the Bill of Lading (BOL), with photos. You sign it. At delivery, you inspect the vehicle again before signing. Damage that occurred in transit is covered by the carrier's cargo insurance, which we verify with the carrier's insurance agent before every dispatch.
To preserve a claim, note any new damage on the delivery BOL before you sign it, photograph it, and email us at sales@chinggislogistics.com within 24 hours. Damage that is not noted on the delivery BOL is very difficult to claim. We will help you file with the carrier's insurer and stay on it until it is resolved. Chinggis is not the insurer and does not itself pay claims, except where we choose to as a courtesy.
Not covered: pre-existing damage noted at pickup, normal road dust and dirt, mechanical or electrical failures not caused by the carrier, damage from personal items, and damage from vehicles that were not prepared as described in section 7.
9. Cancellations and refunds
- Before a carrier is assigned: cancel any time. Nothing has been charged, so there is nothing to refund.
- After a carrier is assigned (dispatch): your card has been charged and a driver has been committed to your vehicle, so the deposit amount is non-refundable. If you paid in full, we refund everything above the deposit amount. Rescheduling within the same week is free once.
- Driver arrives and cannot load (nobody present, vehicle not ready, inoperable and booked as running): a dry-run fee of $150 may apply, and the deposit amount is not refunded.
- Driver arrives and cannot deliver (nobody present, site closed, unloading equipment missing or not working): waiting time, a second delivery attempt and any storage are your cost, as set out in section 7.
- If we cannot cover your move at the locked price within your window plus 3 days: nothing is charged (section 2).
10. Things we do not do
We do not move vehicles containing hazardous materials, firearms, illegal goods or household goods. We do not transport vehicles for anyone under 18. We may decline or cancel a booking, with a full refund, if we cannot safely arrange it.
11. Limits and law
Our liability to you for any claim relating to a shipment is limited to the amount you paid Chinggis for that shipment. Carrier liability for cargo is governed by the carrier's Bill of Lading and 49 U.S.C. §14706. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas; any dispute will be heard in Harris County, Texas. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
12. Your information
We use what you give us (name, phone, email, addresses, vehicle) to quote, book and run your shipment, and we share only what a carrier needs to move your vehicle. Card numbers go straight to Square, our payment processor; we never see or keep them.
When you arrive from an ad or another site, this browser keeps a short note of where you came from (the ad's tags, the ad click number, the first page you saw and the site that sent you) for up to 90 days, and sends it with your quote so we know which ads are worth paying for. We use no advertising cookies and no third-party tracking scripts, and we do not sell your information. To clear the note, clear this site's data in your browser.
